Summer Home Tour 2015
It’s summer home tour day!! Yippee! About four times each year I get to share what’s been going on inside our home lately, and I’m often surprised at how much I’ve actually accomplished since the previous tour!
I’m thrilled to say that the upstairs of our home is just about complete (for now, anyway 😉 ), and though the downstairs still needs some work, we have big plans for it in the not-too-distant future! But I’m getting ahead of myself– come on in!

Since we live in townhouses, I’m not much of an outdoor decorator, but I do love changing out our door wreath seasonally. This summer after a craft fail, I created a coastal-inspired wreath using a bunch of supplies that I already had on hand, and for $0, it’s not too shabby!

As you walk through the door, you’ll pass by our family command center, which helps us stay organized all year long.

I will ask you to avert your eyes as we walk past my least favorite room in the house, the kitchen {but it may not be that way for long… 😉 }, and head into our dining room.

I have to admit, this has recently become one of my favorite spots to decorate. There are just so many possibilities with the table and the hutch!

Since a lot of my other summer decor is coastal-ish this year, I went with a mix of aqua and neutrals for the table, and I’m lovin’ it.

And also fresh flowers are a must for any home tour. It’s a rule. That I just made up. But a rule nonetheless. 🙂
From the dining area, you can catch a glimpse of the old dresser I salvaged and turned into a TV stand…

Can you believe it was a $40 Craigslist find?! I seriously lucked out on that one! The rest of the living room is kind of a work in progress, but I did manage to give our floating shelves a summer-y coastal look…

Minty aqua everywhere! Just the way I like it! 🙂

Making our way upstairs, the master bedroom is one of the spaces that has been completed since my spring tour.

So much in this room was DIY-ed. We made the headboard ourselves, installed the board and batten accent wall, and I even gave the lampshades a little upgrade.

I just can’t seem to leave the furniture alone either, so Donnie’s dresser got a blue coat of paint, and mine went a little glammy…

And since paint tends to fix just about everything around here, our builder-grade vanity got a fresh coat as well, along with some new knobs.

Since we finished the bedroom, I’m having a harder time declaring a favorite room in the house. The bedroom is coming close, but I think my fabulously feminine home office may still win out…

These were plain old bookshelves before we added crown molding to give them a more custom look, and the wrapping paper backing added the perfect pop of color!

This pegboard was headed for the trash, but once again, a few coats of paint and some molding saved the day!

And finally, before you go, take a peek into the Cs’ room…

They honestly really love sharing this space, and it warms my heart every time I hear them chattering away to one another before they fall asleep.

And that’s the grand tour! Thanks for following along! Have a wonderful week!

Your home is adorable. I love all your painted furniture! The boys’ room is so playful. <3
Thank you so much, Jen!! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

Your house is gorgeous!!! I love all the aqua/teal you incorporated – it looks so cozy and relaxing!!
Question – do you like living in a townhome? We are renting a house right now but are thinking of purchasing a townhouse. We also have two little ones, so I wasn’t sure if they would be a bother to the neighbors. I love the idea of not having yard work, though! And the community these particular townhomes are in is wonderful – walking distance to shops, restaurants, parks, trails, the library, the school, etc.
Thanks for sharing your tour!! Very inspiring for when we go to buy!!
Thanks, Sarah! We do like our townhouse! It won’t be our forever home, but we bought it right after we had our first son and loved that it was in a great neighborhood without having a high price tag. 🙂 We’re also on an end, so we actually have a big yard for the boys, though it is shared space. And you’re right– the lack of yard work is awesome! Have a great week!

My absolute favorite part Is the office/craft area…I love the white and teal, the peg board is a genius use of vertical and easy access storage, and the crown molding makes it look so high end. I’m planning a craft/studio space in my basement so I love seeing what you did. Thanks for sharing!
