My 10 Must-Have Organizing Products
As much as I love organization, I’ve never been one to collect a bunch of organizing gizmos and gadgets. I like to keep it as simple as possible; believe it or not, too many bins or fancy organizers can actually add clutter to a space! When I do find organizing products I love, then, I will shout it from the rooftops! 🙂

Since we’ve been talking a lot about organization around here lately, I thought I would compile a list of the 10 organizing products that I would deem “must-haves.” We are using all of these in our house currently (and used many of them in our previous house as well), and I love that they help to keep our spaces neat and tidy!
My 10 Must-Have Organizing Products

1. Wine Rack as Water Bottle Holder
I shared this wine rack-turned-water bottle holder on my organized pantry video earlier this week, and people went crazy for it! It has done wonders for keeping our water bottles organized– they’re no longer losing their lids or falling over all the time!

These wine racks could probably also be used to hold cans of hair product– like mousse and hairspray– under the bathroom sink.
2. ALGOT Closet System
If you’ve been around my blog for very long, you know that I am pretty much obsessed with the ALGOT closet system from IKEA.
[FYI… IKEA recently discontinued their ALGOT system and replaced it with BOAXEL, which is very similar.]
Between our two houses, we’ve used it in six (!!!) spaces! It has worked well for maximizing space in our small master closet in the townhouse…

…for giving the boys’ extra storage room in their small shared closet…

…in our pantries…

…in my craft closet…

…and we put it in the boys’ playroom closet in our new house as well. Whew! That’s a lot of shelving!
3. Towel Bar + Shower Hooks
I have used this system for years to organize my necklaces, and I am still loving it! I can easily find the pieces I’m looking for whenever I need them, and it looks pretty too!

4. Cake Stands
I have used a cake stand next to the sink in both of our houses to hold hand soap, a sponge, and a dish cloth. It keeps these items up off the counter and corrals them nicely so that the space doesn’t look cluttered.

Cake stands could also be used to hold jewelry, cosmetic items, office supplies, kitchen oils or seasonings, and more!
5. Broom Holder
We installed this little broom holder in our new house, and it has been a game changer! There are no more brooms or sweepers falling over in the closet, and I can easily grab the cleaning item I need when I need it.

(The plastic bag dispenser comes in handy too! 😉 )

6. Risers
These made an appearance in my pantry organization video too! Right now we use a riser to hold our spices, and I love it because it allows us to fit a bunch of items in a small space, and we can still see what’s in each one!

We used risers for canned goods in the townhouse pantry as well, and they would also be a fun way to display items like nail polish or perfume.
7. Stackable Drawers
I have used stackable drawers in so many ways in our home. They are great for holding hand-me-downs because you can easily access the clothing items when you need them.

I’ve used them under our bathroom sink to keep our toiletry items at bay.

I recently ordered an acrylic set to help organize under our kitchen sink. Smaller drawers could also be used to hold anything from cosmetics to k-cups to markers and crayons!
8. Pitchers
We currently use pitchers to keep our kitchen utensils organized! They look beautiful on the counter, and I can use a few of them to separate the utensils by finish– metallic, plastic, and wooden.

And of course they’re great for displaying flowers as well!

9. Cosmetic Case
I recently used one of these fold up cosmetic cases to help tame all of the small items in our pool bag, and it was the perfect organizing solution! The different pockets allow me to separate items so they’re easy to find, and they’re clear, so I can easily see what’s in each one.

They also fold up neatly and don’t take up much space.

You could use one of these cases to store craft supplies, create a first aid kit, or to store cords without them getting tangled.
10. SKUBB Boxes
I recently used some SKUBB boxes from IKEA to help tidy up some of our dresser drawers, and I love the result. Donnie’s dresser especially has big, wide drawers, and no matter how hard I tried, it was hard to keep them neat. With the SKUBB boxes, I can separate his shirts by type so they’re easy to find, and they’re no longer falling over and making a mess!

The boxes work perfectly for corralling smaller items like socks as well.

Thanks for all your tips. I’m working on it little by little.
I have a cute pitcher that I do put flowers in. Adorable!
These are great ideas! I love IKEA…I have gotten so many organizational items there for a reasonable price. I also like using an over-the-door shoe organizer in my laundry space. I call it a space because I don’t think it’s large enough to officially call it a room! Lol;-). The shoe pockets are perfect for extra cleaning products (while keeping it looking relatively tidy) since I don’t have much counter or cabinet space. Thanks, Abby!
Love that idea, April! Thanks for sharing! Have a wonderful weekend! <3

This is great! Always looking for things to get some things organized with. Organization is such a great way to just feel better like you have more control and it makes you a little more sane, I believe. Thanks for sharing!
I totally agree, Charlotte! It definitely makes me feel more sane! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! <3

I really love the way your home looks! It’s so bright and clean! The risers for your spice are amazing as well! Great job Abby!
Thanks so much!

Just put a cake plate on my shopping list. The one I have now is WAY too big to go on my counter. But, I love the smaller diameter on the higher pedestal that you show! Thanks!
I’m going to tell my daughter about the ‘pool’ organizer. Genius for the diaper bag!
BTW… you had an apron sink in your town home. Was there a reason you opted not to go that way in your new house?
Hi, Julie! If we would have gone with the farmhouse style sink in this house, we would have either had to cut out a portion of the cabinet to make it fit or replace the cabinet altogether. Donnie had also requested a single bowl sink since he does the dishes (bless him!) and it was hard to find a farmhouse sink that was big enough that only had one bowl. I hope this helps! Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for the info, Abby. Always nice to hear why people do (or don’t do) certain things. Great input.
So glad it was helpful for you, Julie! Hope you’re having a great week! <3

One of my favorite organization tools is those underbed storage bins (the ones with the wheels like you can find at Staples or Walmart). I don’t have a lot of space, so I need to use that space under the bed, but when I used boxes down there, I would forget what I had or wouldn’t be able to get to it. The bins have wheels so they roll right out. I use one for camping gear, one for yarn/knitting supplies, one for workout gear like weights, dvds etc, and one for clothes that are the next size down (I’m trying to get back in shape, and I’m going to need those clothes next month, so I didn’t want to have to buy new ones or climb into the attic! This way they are out of my closet but still reachable). The bins were an especially good fit for the workout stuff, because with the weights a regular box would be hard to move (really heavy!). The rolling bins slide right out, like drawers with lids.
Yes! Those bins are PERFECT for under the bed storage! Love them. Thanks for sharing, Joy!

The skubb boxes are looking great. It is surprising how quickly small pieces make the entire place unorganized. Thank you for writing on these neat products. Have a wonderful weekend.
Wow, this is amazing! I love how you organized every area and such great ideas.

Love the ideas; thank you!
One question: when you press down on the soap pump, does it not turn the whole cake stand over?
I’m thinking no, but my brain is wondering.
Lol! I’ve never thought of that! We’ve used the cake stand by the sink for about 2 years now and have never had that happen (even with two crazy little boys using it ;), so I think it’s pretty solid! Have a wonderful weekend!

I absolutely love all of these creative ideas for organization! Definitely going to have to try some of these out, especially the pitchers. Thanks for all the great tips! By the way, your new home is so lovely.
Aw, thank you Crystal! So glad it was helpful for you! Happy Monday! <3

Wow! Such great ideas! I’m going to go get my wine rack (stored away with no wine in it currently) and put it to work right away! The pool organizer? Genius!
I like using a milk crate in my guest bath. I tip it on its side and it holds all the bath towels without them tipping over and then on the “top” (i.e.side) of the milk crate I make a stack of hand towels and a stack of washcloths. No towels tumbling over.
Going to go watch the video. 🙂
Nancy
Thanks so much, Nancy! Love the milk crate idea…thanks for sharing! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

I would love to see a Computer desk organized
Amazing ideas, all the photos look beautiful too! The wine rack was a pretty creative one, I’d never think of that!
Thanks so much, Isadora! The wine rack has worked great for us! Have a great week!

I too have separate pitchers for wood, plastic, and metal utensils on my kitchen counter. I thought I was the only one. Lol. I use the same kind of cosmetic roll in my car for pens, an extra pair of readers, stain remover, plastic straws, bandaids, safety pins, spare change, etc. Very handy.
Glad it’s not just me! <3
