A Beautiful and Organized Primary Closet – The Reveal!

It’s reveal day!!! This has been Closet Week here on Just a Girl and Her Blog– we’ve been taking our builder grade closet and transforming it into a space that is both functional and beautiful! You can see our plans in this post and the installation process here.

A Beautiful and Organized Primary Closet – The Reveal!

Today is my favorite post yet! I can’t wait to show you the completed closet! As a reminder, this is what we started with…

Love this plan for a new, custom walk in closet with EasyClosets! Click through to the post to see how they are getting organized and planning to maximize the storage space in the closet!

Our closet has a somewhat unconventional layout. The angled walls and awkward configuration made it challenging to really maximize the use of the space, particularly with the wire shelving the builders had installed. The closet has two sections, so all of my items are in one section, and Donnie’s are in the other.

It doesn’t look like this anymore, though! Check out the reveal in the video below:

I’m in love! I didn’t believe that we would ever actually have extra storage space in our closet, but now we do thanks to the smart system from EasyClosets!

I was able to check off everything on my closet wish list and more, which is pretty amazing to me! I have plenty of space for hanging clothes…

We were even able to work in space for a full length mirror, which was sort of a bonus, but has been super convenient when I’m getting ready in the morning!

I love that all of my shoes have their own little spot on a shelf. (Literally all of them. I was barefoot when I took this shot because I wanted to show every pair in its place! ?)

I have drawers for personal items, and I even had enough room to fold my sweaters and fit them in a drawer. Yay!

And jewelry storage! I’ve been keeping my jewelry in ziplock bags since we moved into our house because I had nowhere else to put it, and we finally have a solution! That is actually a towel bar with shower curtain hooks on it holding my necklaces– a trick I saw on Pinterest before I even started blogging, but it works like a charm!

Perhaps my most favorite option that EasyClosets offers is a fold out ironing board, hidden right behind that top drawer front!

I had been debating about where to store our ironing board for easiest access, and this ended up being an absolutely perfect solution. When it’s time to iron I can just pull it out, flip it open, and start ironing!

It even rotates!

Beyond the ironing board section, I have more hanging space for dresses and scarves, and shelves galore!

I had so much space that I was even able to put pretty decor items on some of the shelves– love! I went with a mix of different types of bins for our shelves, and they hold things like extra sheets for our bed (the linen closet in this house is teeny!), extra toiletry items, soft luggage pieces, belts, and purses and wallets.

Moving over to Donnie’s side of the closet…

I was actually a little worried about this corner because the wall is at an angle, and I wasn’t sure how any type of closet system could accommodate it, but the EasyClosets pieces fit in there perfectly, and I don’t even notice the weird shape of the space anymore.

Donnie’s side has tons of functionality too! There’s the obvious space for hanging clothes…

…and he could easily fit a lot more in there if he needed to!

He also has shoe storage space and several shelves. Confession: some of those bins are empty because he had so much room he didn’t have anything to put in there yet!

Also he didn’t want any pink roses on his side of the closet. I can’t imagine why… 😉

There’s even a built-in hamper, which is super convenient!

Such a transformation! I love that everything has a specific place because not only does it help our closet stay neat and tidy, but our bedroom stays tidier as well. Yay!

  9. I love the ironing board in the closet, tucked away when not in use. It makes so much sense to have it near the clothes, but also out of the way so little ones don’t get hurt. A question though, where do you plug in your iron? Do you keep it in the closet also?

    1. justagirlabby says:

We do! It is hidden away in one of the bins! 🙂 We had to get an extra outlet put into the closet so we could plug it in easily. Have a wonderful weekend, Shayne!

      ~Abby =)

What a great post I’m in love with this closet this definitely looks like a dream closet. I truly believe that closet space is important it annoys me that a lot of homes like mine is designed with small closets. I can’t wait to move into our new home the closet space is way bigger. I love the design you used on your closet. I’m definitely showing this to my husband in our new home were building the closet from scratch. I love the shelves and extra closet rods in yours.it looks like a real space saver.

  23. Hi Abby! Love your closet and the fact I have the exact same floor plan as you 🙂 I would ideally like to duplicate your closet because it truly has everything and makes the closet so much more functional. However the agent I am working with is saying they are not the same. But they are 🙂 I’d love to connect with the person who designed your closet. Would you mind shari f their information if they are still with the company.
