30+ Beautiful Dining Room Storage Pieces

These beautiful dining room storage pieces will keep your room organized and look gorgeous at the same time!

30+ Beautiful Dining Room Storage Pieces

A few weekends ago I decided, sort of on a whim, to finally tackle our dining room and give it a little refresh. I hadn't done much to it since we moved into our house two years ago, and it was definitely time for a change!

Dining Room Decor Before and After

You can see the full dining room transformation in this post.

How We Keep Our Dining Room Organized

One key component in our dining room is storage. I wanted to make sure we had a way to store textiles like napkins, tablecloths, runners and placemats, as well as some of our dishware in a way that was organized and easy to access.

We created organized storage by bringing in two pieces of furniture. The first is a china cabinet that used to be my grandmother's that I painted a few years ago.

China Cabinet in Coastal Dining Room

I love this piece because it gives us room for a beautiful display area at the top and then has a very practical drawer and cabinet space at the bottom.

The other storage piece is more of a sideboard / buffet. It was originally a dresser that my mom found at an antique shop, and it did a stint as Donnie's dresser in our last house and as our boys' dresser in our current house before I stole it, gave it a makeover, and used it for storage in our dining room.

Again, I love that there is a place to display little "collections"-- pitchers and cake stands-- and also practical drawers for storing things.

These two pieces make such a huge difference in keeping our dining room organized, and they make entertaining easy because we can always find what we need when guests are coming over.

How to Choose the Perfect Dining Room Storage Pieces

Since dining room storage pieces tend to be larger and therefore can get pricey, thrift stores, consignment shops, and Craigslist/Facebook marketplace are great places to look for them, particularly if you're willing to put in a little elbow grease to restore or paint them to match your aesthetic.

I've also rounded up some gorgeous pieces below that would make great additions to any dining space for both organization and display purposes.

Whether you're purchasing a previously owned storage piece or getting something brand new, I would first declutter your dining room space, getting rid of anything you no longer use or love, then take inventory of what you have left so you can decide what type of storage piece would work best for you.

  • Do you have pretty china or beautiful collections you'd like to display? A china cabinet or sideboard with glass doors may be your best bet for showing them off.
  • Do you have a bunch of dining room textiles that you just want to hide away? A buffet with ample drawer space may work better for you.
  • Do you want to display a few items and also be able to tuck some things out of sight? Choose a combination piece that has some display room and some closed off storage as well.

Having the right storage pieces can make a huge difference in helping to make your dining room both organized and beautiful at the same time. Here are a few of my favorites that I found online during my search...

I love my dining room “hutch” - that is 3 Target bookcases! For less than $400, I have a large piece that looks great. We got one bookcase with doors at the bottom, then flanked either side with narrow bookcases, and put mirror tiles on the back to reflect light. We move a lot, so having flexibility is very useful for us. I love how it looks, though.
