If there's one thing that marks the summer season in my mind, lemonade might just be it.
When we were little and school let out for the summer, my sister and I would get together with the girls who lived near us and set up our card table lemonade stand on the sidewalk in our small town.
One of our friends lived on Main Street. It was the absolute perfect lemonade stand spot.
The town was tiny, so the streets weren't overly busy, and we knew nearly everyone who passed by.
I'm pretty sure our tiny cups of lemonade were overpriced.
And I'm not even sure that they tasted very good...
But the sweet neighbors indulged us in our little entrepreneurial venture and would always come and buy a cup anyway.
By the end of the day we each had a few dollar bills in our pockets and would go home happy. Lemonade stand success.
As an adult, lemonade is still a must at all of our summer get togethers and events, but I'd say my "lemonade stand" is looking a little more sophisticated these days, with a beautiful bar cart and cute accessories from Wayfair.
We've come a long way from our folding card table. 😉
Sometimes I may go a teeny bit overboard on my lemonade bar preparations (oops...), but I think it's the extra thought and little details that make it so much more fun.
And options. People need to have options, right? I mean, plain lemonade is lovely, but raspberry peach lemonade and strawberry lemonade and blueberry mint lemonade?
That's just magical. 🙂
And since I sometimes get a little worried that my lemonade-making skills haven't improved much since my childhood lemonade stand days, I bring backup just in case...
...which, thankfully, isn't usually needed. 🙂
Have I mentioned that these photos were taken at my in-laws' house? They built this house when Donnie and I were dating in college many moons ago.
And now our kids and Donnie's sisters' kids have a blast playing in their awesome backyard and on all 10 acres of their land.
I know they'll make so many fun summer memories here.
And maybe one day they'll even be telling summer lemonade stories of their own.
Because really, what summer get together is complete without a somewhat-over-the-top-but-incredibly-lovely lemonade bar? 🙂
