Spring Parade of Homes 2014

Happy Wednesday, friends! As I promised in yesterday's office update, today is spring home tour day!!! I am so excited to be joining with 13 amazingly fabulous bloggers to bring you the Spring Parade of Homes, and y'all, if you haven't been following along so far this week, I suggest you check out the links at the end of this post because these girls' homes are STUNNING. But before you hop away to see all of their gorgeousness, won't you come by my place for a little visit?

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

I admit, I was a little sluggish when it came to spring decorating this year. I mean, it was still snowing here in Pittsburgh not all that long ago {and it would not surprise me at all if it did again, unfortunately}, so it was kind of hard to get into "spring mode."

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

I finally decided, though, that if the weather wasn't cooperating, I could still bring spring into my home with pretty pastels and flowers galore!

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

This little door decoration was the first spring piece I whipped up using a frame I had lying around and some simple paper flowers. I am all about the blues and greens and purples lately-- I think my office makeover is oozing into the rest of my house!

Now I have to warn you: I may have gone a bit overboard with my table setting.

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

But you see, I'm always looking for a good excuse to break out my fancy china that I never get to use ever, and you can't tell me that these plates do not just scream "SPRING!!!"

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

Right?! So just pretend that you came over for a fancy spring brunch, and it will all make perfect sense. 😉 My mom got these settings as a gift for her wedding and then passed them on to me when I got married, so they're pretty special to me. I just paired them with a wrapping paper runner, and some simple bottle vases and that was that!

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

To make the bottles look a little fancier, I added a small piece of ribbon and some more paper flowers-- paper flowers everywhere, I say! {The roses are real, though!}

Moving on to the living room. Oh, the living room. It is a major work in progress right now, so you're only going to see little snippets... like the coffee table!

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

The coffee table decor turned out a little quirkier than I was expecting it to, but it's kind of growing on me. I like the blend of natural and artificial elements, and I really like the colors. Pretty soon you're going to have to tell me to stop it with the aqua/purple/green combo, but until then, I'm embracing it! 😀

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

Mmmmm. I love me some Trader Joe's flowers. They always bloom so nicely!

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

Also, random fact about me and decorating-- whenever I go to style a space, I always go downstairs to my hubby's office and steal all of his theology books. They come in such pretty colors and look so neat all stacked up, so I just can't help myself! He always knows I'm working on a project when he comes home from work and half of his books are missing.

I digress. On to the floating shelves!

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

Every time I change out our floating shelf decor I vow to myself that I'm going to paint the wall a lighter color before I style them the next time. I think I've broken that vow like 5 or 6 times now, but I really am going to do it soon! I think...

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

I made this sign recently {tutorial coming soon...like probably tomorrow}, stuck it up on the shelves, and then the rest of the shelf decor kind of fell in place around it. LOTS of flowers...real and fake.

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

And if you look closely you can even spot an umbrella and some gardening tools! Love!

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

And of course I had to throw a monogram letter in there somewhere!

Finally we're off to the room that thinks it's spring all year long... our bedroom.

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

I'm actually kind of shocked that the pillows I made last year are still holding up. Maybe I'm not as terrible of a seamstress as I thought!

Spring Home Tour at JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

There's one more room in my house that's looking awfully spring-y lately, and that's my #fabulouslyfemininehomeoffice ! You're going to have to wait until reveal day to check that one out though! 😀

Even though my part of the tour is done, the show is far from over! Be sure to head over and visit all of these lovely ladies and their beautiful homes, too!

Thank you so much, Julia! I so hear you. I always remind myself that this weather shouldn't be a surprise to me after living here my whole life, but every year the cold weather seems to shock me somehow, lol! So fun being on "tour" with you this week! Enjoy your weekend!

Your home looks very nicely decorated for spring! I love the pretty pillows on your bed. I am currently working on some spring pillows for my home's living room! (I recently redesigned the living room and added a sofa and a chevron rug.) - Lauren from Home Guide

Beautiful decor. I have dark black furniture in my room too, and just ordered new bedding, we really needed it, and I found a steal of deal. I was worried how the lighter spring colors would look with it, but this gives me hope, it will look great.
