Happy summer, dear friends!! My kiddos’ school went extra long this year– they just finished up a few days ago– so I truly feel like our summer is kicking off this week! Hooray! A few weeks ago I shared my summer dining room and kitchen, and today I’m delighted to show your our summer living room as part of the Simply Summer Home Tours, hosted by my sweet friend Nina Hendrick!
If you’re popping over from Jen’s place at Migonis Home, welcome!! Isn’t her coastal home just gorgeous?!
Simply Summer Living Room Tour
It’s no secret that I love blues and greens at all times of the year, but they feel especially fresh and inviting in the summer. This season I decided to not only incorporate my usual aqua, but to add in some navy blue as well– just give me all the blues!
The shelves on the entertainment unit have been a fun way to incorporate seasonal touches throughout the year. Since Connor was out of school when I styled them this time, he helped me decide where to put everything, which made it even more fun!
Some of these pictures of the boys were taken when they were pretty little, and it always makes me a little nostalgic to look at them. My little Caleb will be going off to kindergarten when school starts up again, so we really don’t have any babies in the house anymore. Everyone warned me that the time would go fast, and it really has flown by!
Our family spends a lot of time together in this room, so it was important to me that it felt cozy and welcoming– hence the 87 pillows and 34 blankets. 😉 Fact: I use throw blankets at all times of year because I am always freezing! You’ll rarely see me sitting on the couch (or really anywhere in our house) without one!
I may be just a bit obsessed with throw pillows. In fact, I have to sneak in new ones now because if either of the boys see me buying one, they tell on me to Donnie! Good think they’re so cute!! 😉
If you’ve taken one of my home tours before, you may be thinking that the couches look a little different today. I have a few sets of covers for them and normally have the white ones on for tours, but I decided to go with the tan this season… they kind of felt beachy to me, so I just went with it!
I hadn’t planned on using pink flowers as the coffee table centerpiece, but Donnie brought them home for me the other day (major husband points!!!), and they were so pretty that I couldn’t resist! The wooden tray was one of my finds from our trip to Magnolia Market earlier this spring, and if fits the coffee table perfectly.
The entertainment unit has been our biggest project in this space so far, and we are still loving it! We are still planning to paint the walls in this room (the white is the color that the builders painted every room of the house before we moved in) and add a board and batten treatment, which I am very excited for.
We are just waiting to have a final appointment with the builder in a month or two to fix any nail pops or other issues that have arisen since we moved in, and then I will be doing a bunch of painting. We’re always a work in progress around here!
So that’s the state of our living room these days– simple and cozy! If you have any questions about sources for anything, I will link as many items as I can below.
