Glam Fall Wreath

When I think of fall, I think of reds, browns, and oranges, multicolored leaves, pumpkins and gourds, witches and spiders for Halloween, and turkeys and cornucopias for Thanksgiving.
My wreath has none of those things.
But if you’re from Pittsburgh, a black and gold wreath in the fall makes perfect sense– this is Steelers country, baby! Or at least that’s how I’m justifying the fact that I decided to stray from the traditional fall wreath this challenge. 😀 I kind of made up this *glam* wreath as I went along, so bear with me and see where we end up!
Here’s what I used to make my non-traditional fall wreath:

1. An old, outdated thrifted frame
2. My trusty glue gun
3. A wreath form and some tulle
4. Pretty jewels and black ribbon
Not pictured- spray paint
Step 1- Transform that Frame!
The frame I picked up at the thrift store had a good shape, but the color was pretty atrocious. I pulled out my trusty can of spray paint and transformed it from gold…

…to gold. But it’s now a much more chic and stylish shade of gold! My next plan was to add some bling with strings of beads like this:

But it just wasn’t working for me. I don’t know if it was the type of beads or what, but I wasn’t loving it. On to plan B!
Step 2- Wrap a Wreath Form in Tulle
I grabbed my spring ribbon wreath that I had stashed away and took it apart so I could use the wreath form. I had purchased some black tulle that I thought I would just use to hang the frame, but I ended up using it to wrap the wreath form and came up with this:

It was okay, but it needed a little something…sparkly!
Step 3- Bling It Out!
I put together some tulle flowers using this tutorial by 11 Spring Street and added some extra gems because, well, sometimes a girl just needs to bedazzle something!

I considered just hanging it like this, but I was still really loving my upcycled gold frame, so I decided to put them together.
Step 4- Add a Wreath to Your Wreath
To attach the wreath to the frame, I wrapped tulle around both pieces and tied it together in the back.

I then added some tulle and ribbon {for added strength} to hang it up, and I had the super glam wreath of my dreams!

I’m loving the bling-y details!

It may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a fall wreath, but I’m okay with being different on this one!
Did you go the traditional or non-traditional route with your fall wreath this year?
