Cute Monster Valentines (with FREE printables!)

Cute Monster Valentines by Just a Girl and Her Blog

Never in my whole life did I ever think I would be making monster Valentines. And then I had two boys. 😀 I don’t know why boys find monsters so fascinating, but they do, so monster Valentines it was!

The inspiration for these actually came from the googly eye finger puppets– Connor spotted them while we were walking through Michael’s one day, and he just had to have them. I thought they might be fun to incorporate into Valentines, so we bought a few packs, brought them home and the monsters were born!

Free Printable Valentines – Monster Themed!

Here’s what I used to make the Valentines:

  • Valentine print outs (provided below; I printed on these, but you could use regular white card stock too)
  • Adhesive dots (similar to these)
  • Eye finger puppets (similar to these; also found at Michael’s)
  • Paper cutter or scissors (optional)

So really the assembly of these little guys is pretty self explanatory. First you’ll want to print out the Valentines. There are three cute monster styles to choose from:

The Valentines are four to a page and are compatible with the Avery Postcards, but they can also just be printed on regular card stock and cut out by hand. And speaking of cutting things out, I am slightly type A and crazy, and it drives me nuts that my printer doesn’t print to the edge of the page, so I use my handy dandy paper cutter to slice off the excess edges. If you are not a crazy person like me, feel free to skip this step. 😀

(The left one is trimmed, the right one isn’t. Will the kids notice either way? Definitely not. 🙂 )

For me, attaching the eye finger puppets took way longer than it should have. My first idea was to sew them on with baker’s twine. That was a fail because #1- it took forever, and #2- the eyes didn’t sit straight. Then I tried cutting a slit with my exacto knife and sliding the eyes in there. It was okay, but it made the Valentine sit kind of wonky.

It wasn’t until my third attempt that it hit me: glue dots! {And you’re all reading this saying, “Duh!”} The glue dots were super simple and quick to use. I just stuck one to the back of each eye, pressed it onto the card, and I was done!!

Even though I never thought I was the monster Valentine “type,” Con is absolutely over the moon about them, and that’s all that matters to me! He is so excited to hand them out to his friends at preschool– I haven’t broken it to him yet that he still has to wait two more weeks! Oh well. It will be here before we know it, right? 😀

Cute cute! I make things harder than they need to be too often also… and for what it’s worth, glue dots didn’t come to me instantly as I was reading that part either 🙂
