2015 Fall Home Tour
It’s fall home tour day!!! Four times a year I give you a sneak peek inside our seasonally decorated home– and today is one of those days! I’m so excited to show you around– come on in!!

I thought maybe there would be a teeny tiny chance that our kitchen would be finished before this tour, but while it’s certainly coming along, we still have a few more projects to complete before we can call it “done.” I snapped this photo while I was getting ready to decorate my fall shelves and included it in the tour as a little sneak peek of what is to come in the kitchen!

Let’s head into the dining room! We live in a townhouse, so our dining room, living room, and the Cs’ toy area are really one big space. We still have plenty of room for our table and my grandmother’s hutch, though, and if you’ve been on one of my tours before, you’ll notice that there’s something a little different about it! 😉 More on that on Wednesday. (Oh I know, I’m so mean!!!)

I went with a mix of real and fake pumpkins, fruit, and greenery for our centerpiece this year…can you tell which is which? 🙂

The eucalyptus in the pitcher is most definitely real, and has left our house smelling so good!

My blues and aquas always seem to find their way into the china cabinet, and I think they pop nicely off of the crisp white background!

I needed some filler for my big bowl and had zero time to run to the store, so I just grabbed some of the weeds beautiful clippings that I’ve worked so hard to maintain… um, yeah… from my front yard, and they did the job perfectly. {See, procrastinating on the yard work can pay off! 😉 }

Also, hydrangeas everywhere! I loaded up on them at Trader Joe’s and have them all around the house for fall. Love!

If you look across the table in the dining room, you will see our TV stand, which was once a beat up $40 Craigslist dresser that I repainted. It is still one of my favorite pieces in our house!

Styling it is always a challenge because I’m limited to “short” decor pieces, but it usually turns out okay in the end.

Our living room has been through a few changes since the last tour. For a few months I have been on the lookout for a piece of furniture I could upcycle into a coffee table. Our former coffee table just wasn’t cutting it anymore, and I was ready for a change. Then one day I walked into our bedroom and had a lightbulb moment– the trunk at the end of our bed would be perfect! So I switched some things around, and now we have a “new” coffee table for a grand total of $0. Woot!

Also, call me crazy, but I’m trying out a white couch cover in place of our normal gray. I definitely don’t plan to have it on there all the time (hello, two crazy messy boys!), but it will definitely be a nice change from time to time.

See those little stacked things? Those were my grandmother’s. My mom gave them to me recently, and I couldn’t wait to put them to good use! I’m pretty sure they were ash trays at one point and time (hard to believe– they’re really pretty to be ash trays!), but they’re also a good size for coasters, so that’s what we’ll call them now. 🙂

And oh, that feather pillow. It’s my new favorite. I squealed when I found it in Lucy’s shop over at Craftberry Bush because it was my most favorite colors– aqua and navy– and also perfect for fall!

Across the way are my fall shelves, which you may have already seen. These shelves are usually the first thing I decorate each season; it’s always a fun challenge to try to come up with something different that I’ve never done before!

This time I broke my shelf styling process down into the 7 steps I go through each time I decorate them. You can read my very un-technical tutorial in this post.

And finally, the last stop on our tour is the master bedroom! I almost never decorate seasonally upstairs, but I got the urge this year, so a fall master bedroom it is!

And by fall I mean that I used approximately zero traditional fall colors in the space, but it still feels fall-ish to me! {There are pumpkins… that’s like instant fall, right?! And gingham! 🙂 }

Donnie’s dresser is another upcycled project. It’s been painted a few times now, but I’m loving it in its current bold blue state! The color is Behr Marquee’s Compass Blue.

My dresser got a few little fall touches too…

And since I stole the trunk from the end of our bed to use as a coffee table, I replaced it with this little tufted bench that we made a few months back, originally for the dining room. Thank goodness I use aqua in every room of the house– it makes it easy to switch things around!!

And that’s the grand tour! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit!

Have a wonderful week!

Thanks for the peak inside your home 🙂 Where did you get the tray on your trunk turned coffee table? We just installed a built-in entertainment center and I think it would look great on our high shelves. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much, Gena! It is from TJ Maxx, and they had them in a bunch of different sizes! Enjoy your entertainment center! 🙂
~Abby =)
Thanks – I’ll hit up all the TJ Maxxs in my area 😉
I always LOVE how you decorate your hutch, Abby! Absolutely gorgeous tour, friend!
Thank you so much, April! You are the sweetest! Hope you’re having a wonderful Monday!
~Abby =)
It’s al so beautiful, Abby! I love your shelves, especially. And I have a stack of those old ashtrays, too. Hehe. 😉 Thanks for joining us today! xx
Abby! I love all the fresh flowers! Trader Joe’s is my go-to place for flowers. Also, just about every time I’m there I grab some eucalyptus because 1- it’s SUPER cheap and 2- greens are the perfect filler decoration and they add some great texture. I even had seeded eucalyptus in my wedding bouquet! Also, I’m loving all the different colored pumpkins 🙂 – Christene
I believe they really are coasters! Although, people that use ashtrays will use anything…
Abby! Your home looks so inviting! Love all of the fall additions. Especially your hutch and shelf styling. And that new pillow! I’m a fan of aqua and navy myself. 🙂 Absolutely perfect!
xo
LOVE that gray throw on your couch. 🙂
LOVE it! I always look forward to your home tours 🙂
It’s great how you’ve incorporated blues and aqua – they’re usually used for spring but they’re my favourite (I’m not a huge fan of the traditional burnished oranges and browns, so this is really inspiring!)
Enjoy it!
I’m swooning over your hex tile in the kitchen! How gorgeous! LOVE it. Everything looks so beautiful in your home tour and I love those trays that belonged to your grandmother. xx
You have a beautiful home! I love all of the natural decor splashed about. Just gorgeous!
All of it is beautiful, Abby! I love the change you made to your china cabinet. I couldn’t help but chuckle at your weeds comment. Haha! I totally clip from my shrubs and say, “Isn’t this greenery beautiful?” Weeds, Lauren. They’re weeds. Just call it what it is. Landscaping leftovers. Bahaha!
Can’t wait to see your kitchen! That backsplash is so perfect.
Abby I love your space! Blues and aquas are my go-to’s as well. As a matter of fact they were theme colors to our wedding. By the way I love your hutch. Where did you get the aqua mugs?
Don’t feel bad about the lack of fall decor, you nailed it for a blue-minded person like myself. Side note: when Halloween comes, I don’t like scary or gory so I tend to decorate with items that include purple sparkles, orange and limited black. Point I am trying to make: It is okay to think outside of the box with holidays & seasons 🙂 Great job on the Fall Home Tour!
Abby, your tour was lovely! So happy to stop by this morning. Questions: Is you now “white sofa” an Ikea sofa? Have you been happy with it and do new slipcovers fit easily?
Barbara is correct. The glass and silver rimmed family pieces are coasters. You might find if you look closely they may be marked sterling silver. Thanks for sharing you tine and ideas. So many enjoy your posts. Bev
No, you’re not crazy for choosing a white couch cover. From time to time it’s nice to change things and, even though you have two ”messy” boys, I would say it’s worth it!!!
What a beautiful fall tour. I love that you use non traditional accents in your decor. It makes it feel so warm. Aqua is one of my favorite colors so I was ahhing and oohing through the whole thing! Thanks for sharing!

Abby, I love everything about your home. Everything is so beautiful!!
Very pretty! That is my favourite colour palette. The shelves are styled so nicely. Thanks for sharing your tour.
Oh what a beautiful home you have! I love all the blue accents and the subtle fall decor totally blends right in. Great job!
What great little additions! Love your home & tour, so bright and all the aqua..smitten. Not to give ideas and it may not work, but you remember that aqua lamp you showed in your latest kitchen post, that might work above your dining room table. (Just a thought)

Abby,
The hydrangea in your house look so beautiful. You should dry them :). I like your color scheme. Very light and airy.

From one navy and Aqua lover: I adore Lucy’s pillow… Especially on a white slipcover, and do I recognized that gray throw? 😉
Abby, your home is beautiful and I love how bright and airy it feels, while still feeling like fall. Are those plaid pillows in your bedroom from Ikea? I think we have the same ones 🙂
Gorgeous, Abby! I love it all! I especially love this years fall shelves. So well done!
I love your white couch slipcover. Ive been looking everywhere for the perfect one. Do you mind if I ask where you got it? Thanks!
Abby, your home looks beautiful! I love the non-traditional shades of blues and teals, absolutely gorgeous and still so “fall”!
Gorgeous Abby! I love how you have mixed in all your beautiful hits of blues!! My fave:)
I LOVE it Abby! I love your choice of untraditional colors that still make it feel cozy and ‘fall’! 🙂
Pretty tour. Just wanted to say those actually are coasters. My mom had them when I was growing up. She had ashtrays to match (as did any good hostess in the 70’s) but they were shallower and had divits to hold the cigarettes.
