IKEA Magazine Rack Makeover

Magazine Rack Makeover

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! We are in the midst of creating a new craft space in Connor's room, so this weekend we headed to IKEA to pick up supplies. We came home with a Kvissle magazine rack to help organize his construction paper and coloring books, but I immediately knew that I wanted to do something to make it more fun. It is going in a kid's room, after all!

This is the type of project I love because I only needed a few supplies, it took me less than 30 minutes, and the piece had a completely different look when it was complete.

Supplies

Initially I considered painting the whole rack, but then I remembered some patterned duct tape I had picked up at the Target Dollar Spot and thought it would be the perfect way to add color to this very white accessory. {And much easier than painting, too!}

I laid the duct tape straight across the top of each pocket, then used an Xacto knife to slice away any tape that covered the cut out tabs.

Xacto Knife

Clearly this isn't rocket science, but I was just so thrilled by the BIG transformation that I got using such a simple process that I had to share! I am so excited to see how it fits in with the rest of Con's craft nook. I think he is going to LOVE it-- stay tuned for the big reveal!

Have you done any simple yet impactful makeovers lately?

      I agree! Maybe in an office setting the plain white would work, but for a kid's room, no way! Thanks for stopping by the blog, Mel!!
