Caleb’s Olympics-Themed First Birthday
My baby boy turned one in July, and let’s just say I was a teensy bit excited about it! His birthday fell during the Olympic Games in London, so we decided to throw an Olympics-themed first birthday party for him. I may have gone a little overboard considering he won’t even remember it, but I had fun scouring Pinterest for ideas and planning and executing all of the little details.
When looking for birthday party ideas, I stumbled across so many adorable dessert tables that I just had to attempt one myself. It was a fun focal point for the room, and it also doubled as the favor– guests filled bags with yummy candy to take with them as a “thank you!”

The bird’s-eye view really shows the details: paint-chip table runners, patriotic licorice, and brightly colored candy!

What would the Olympics be without the winner’s podium? Gold Werther’s Original, silver Hershey’s Kisses, and bronze Root Beer Barrels complete the triad!

I loved the idea (found here, via Pinterest) of using punch cups and cellophane to package cupcakes. Not only did it make a brightly-colored display, it also made it really easy for guests to transport their yummy treats!

Oh, the cake. Baby C is allergic to peanuts, and I wanted to make sure he could have a taste of his own birthday cake! Even though I am NOT a baker, I attempted his patriotic cake myself, and I was very pleased with out it turned out.

Some other fun Olympic-themed details…

Most importantly, the birthday boy had a blast at his party, surrounded by family and friends. Isn’t he adorable?! (Not that I’m biased… ;))

What are some of your favorite decor ideas for kids’ parties?
