Summer Hutch Decor and Styled x3

Did I just use the word “summer” in my title?! I think I did! I went back and forth between calling it “late spring” or “summer,” but in the end I decided to be optimistic and try to coax the warm weather over to Pittsburgh to stay, so summer it was! 😉

Friends, I am so delighted to be participating in the Styled x3 challenge today, hosted by Stacy Risenmay from Not Just a Housewife! Each month, Stacy sends two other bloggers an interesting decor item and challenges them to style it creatively somewhere in their home, giving three different takes on the same cute decor piece.

Styled x3 with Stacey Risenmay of Not Just a Housewife

This month, Stacy sent Ursula from Homemade by Carmona and I the most adorable branch & twig graphite pencils, and since they arrived just as I was itching to change out my hutch decor (again), I decided that they would make the perfect addition to my shelves.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have even caught a glimpse of the little twig pencils in my post last night…

Can you spot them? 😉

They fit so nicely into my little “L” mug, and I love how they add some natural texture to my hutch!

I’ve found myself bringing in more and more natural and rustic elements to our decor these days…

I blame Joanna Gaines.

I mean, it is nearly impossible to watch a few episodes of Fixer Upper and not come away inspired by her rustic farmhouse style. I probably wouldn’t call myself a complete farmhouse convert just yet, but there have definitely been little hints of that style sneaking in to our house here and there and I’m not mad about it. 🙂

I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to abandon my blues and greens, though. I’m just always drawn to that palette, and it shows up in just about every space in our house. I’m perfectly okay with that! 🙂

Be sure to pop over and visit Stacy and Ursula to see how they styled their twig pencils this time around! And let me know in the comments how YOU would use them in your home!

Have a wonderful day, friends!

Abby

  5. That is a beautiful hutch. The pencils look really cute in that mug. I’ve seen those at Home Goods and have fantasized about where to incorporate them if I bought them. I love Joanna Gaines style. She has been such inspiration for me. She helped me come to terms with my eclectic decor style.

  7. You did a beautiful job! Had to smile at your Joanna Gaines comment as I’m feeling the same way about my decor. Wouldn’t really be normally drawn to rustic, but love how she uses rustic elements in her design plans.
