Organizing the Pantry with Tupperware

Organizing the Pantry with Tupperware by JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

It’s spring!! {Or so they tell me. We woke up to snow yesterday. Ugh.} Spring means spring cleaning, and this weekend my pantry got a mini makeover! The organizational systems we had in place in our pantry were starting to show some wear and tear, so it was time to spruce them up a bit. Here’s what I started with:

While it wasn’t ridiculously out of control {yet}, it wasn’t exactly pretty. We had definitely gotten out of the habit of putting things back in their designated spots, there was no rhyme or reason to where things went, and my labeling system was beginning to fail me.

A few years ago, I purchased some inexpensive plastic containers, printed off some quick wording on address labels to mark them, and we’ve been using them ever since. The problem was, when I washed the containers, the labels would fade, peel, or flake off, so my once-pretty and organized containers were now looking kind of sad. The containers were also bulky and took up a lot of space in my teeny tiny itsy bitsy pantry.

Recently I was talking to my good friend Melissa about my problem, and she suggested that I give the Tupperware Modular Mates a try.

Now Melissa and I have been through a lot together– we met because we were part of a group of women who all were due with babies in August 2011, and we’ve all seen each other through thick and thin over the past few years– so since I totally trust her, I told her to send some my way and I’d try them out!

Aren’t they pretty?! So nice and slim! Since I am an obsessive labeler and am currently looking for any excuse to use the Silhouette machine that my darling hubby got me for Valentine’s Day, I decided to attempt my first vinyl labeling project. {Seriously, can you believe it has taken me a month and a half to try this?!}

My machine did all the work and cut out my words for me. I used masking tape to transfer them over to my beautiful containers, and in just a few minutes I had…

…gorgeous labeled Tupperware! {Is it sad that it makes me so giddily happy? 😉 }

Now all was left to do was clean everything out of my pantry.

I wiped down all of the shelves, threw away everything that was expired {ick!}, consolidated things, and put everything back in a way that made more sense– baked goods together, canned goods together, spices together, etc.

Want to see a before and after? {You know you do! That’s the best part!!}

And the Tupperware is totally the star of the show, right?! I’m loving it! It’s the perfect size for my small pantry, and since it stacks so nicely, it really helps to make the most of the space. The containers are airtight, so I don’t have to worry about my baking supplies going bad. Plus they’re just so darn cute!

    Before I say great job with the reorganization of your pantry (oh wait… never mind, cat’s out of the bag), I HAVE to say I cannot believe you waited so long to try your Silhouette!!!!! I would have had that thing motoring the day I got it haha. I don’t have one myself, but someday I’ll look into getting a Cricut. Now go, and Silhouette your whole house! haha

    1. justagirlabby says:

      Well, I’ve done some Silhouette projects, just not any vinyl labeling until now, which is one of the things I was most excited about. Once my office is under control, I’m using that baby like every single day! 😀 I’m off to follow orders and Silhouette my whole house now!

I re-did my baking cabinet with these 20+ years ago and I still love them. One of my best investments EVER! While Tupperware seems expensive at the time of purchase, it really is a great investment. It seems to last forever. And, it makes me really happy, every time I open my cabinet doors, to see everything so neat and organized!
    If I were to win….I would choose the FridgeSmart 4-pc set. I don’t have any of these and they look fantastic!

    1. justagirlabby says:
