Sweet and Simple Baby Shower Centerpieces

Sweet and Simple Baby Shower Centerpieces by Just a Girl and Her Blog

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of celebrating a friend who is expecting a sweet baby girl! I did a lot of the decorations for the shower, and you can bet I went absolutely crazy with the pink since I never get to do that around here! {I love those sweet little Cs, but they are not pink people! 😉 } I LOVE creating party decor, but one of the things that saddens me about it is that most of it ends up being thrown away after the shower. As a sweet and simple solution to that problem, I came up with these diaper centerpieces that can be well used by the mama-to-be long after her shower is over.

Here’s what I used to create them:

  • Faux flowers
  • Diapers (8 size 2 diapers per centerpiece; I like Pampers because they’re white.)
  • Rubber bands
  • Scissors
  • Yellow and pink ribbon (One roll of each was plenty for 4 centerpieces.)
  • Hot glue gun

Step 1- Roll the Diapers

I started by rolling 7 of the 8 diapers and securing them with rubber bands.

For the last diaper, I trimmed down the stem of one of my flowers so that it was slightly shorter than the width of the diaper and wrapped the diaper around it.

Step 2- Put It All Together

Next I just put the diaper with the flower in the center, arranged the other rolled diapers around it, and secured everything together with another rubber band.

Step 3- Add Ribbon!

Everything is better with ribbon, right? I wrapped my first piece of ribbon around the centerpiece, securing it in the back with a dot of hot glue.

I then put my second piece of ribbon slightly above the first, tying it in a bow, and I was done!

At the party, we just popped each one onto a little hexagon plate from the Target Dollar Spot, sprinkled some confetti around it, and we were good to go!

I love these baby shower centerpieces because they are not only super simple, but they’re also cute AND double as a little gift for mom-to-be! It doesn’t get much better than that!

Update! I recently made a more elaborate version of these cute diaper cakes for my sister’s baby shower. You can get the full tutorial here!

These beautiful diaper cakes make the perfect baby shower centerpieces! They are easy party decor and can be adapted for boys or girls! I'm definitely making these cute decorations for our next shower!

Have you made any cute baby shower decor lately?

Great idea! A new mom can NEVER have too many diapers. My MIL made a diaper “cake” for my shower and it was much appreciated. I happened to save all the ribbon and decorations from it, so even though she passed away before my SIL (her daughter) gave birth, I was able to use those decorations to recreate the cake for my SIL’s shower. Then it became something sentimental as well as useful.

What a cute & creative idea! and those fake flowers look amazing!!

    1. justagirlabby says:

Thanks so much, Anne! IKEA makes pretty good fake flowers, I guess! I didn’t even know they sold them until I found these beauties there! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

      1. Just came across these amazing looking centerpieces. Question though, what size ribbon and about how big are the flowers in diameter? Thanks for the help 🙂

        1. justagirlabby says:

Oh my. I wrote this years ago, so I’m not exactly sure. The flowers were from IKEA, and the gerber daisies they have on their site right now say that they’re 6″ in diameter, so I’m guessing the ones I used were pretty close to that. Those rolls of ribbon look like they’re about 1″ wide each. I hope this helps!

  28. Lee Popham says:

I love this idea! This is so much better than those diaper cakes that the diapers get hot glued together and the Mom can’t use some of the diaper because they get ruin by the hot glue. I am going to do this for an upcoming shower in 3 weeks! Thanks for having this on Pintrest!!! You ROCK!

    1. justagirlabby says:

So glad it was helpful for you, Lee! Hope you’re having a great week!
