Free Printable Cute Monster Valentines

Never in my whole life did I ever think I would be making monster Valentines. And then I had two boys. I don’t know why boys find monsters so fascinating, but they do, so cute monster Valentines it was!

The inspiration for these actually came from the googly eye finger puppets– Connor spotted them while we were walking through Michael’s one day, and he just had to have them. I thought they might be fun to incorporate into Valentines, so we bought a few packs, brought them home and the monsters were born!

I wasn’t going to just keep them all to myself, so I’m sharing them with you so your kiddos can have cute monster Valentines too!

Step 1- Gather the supplies to make the cute monster Valentines.

Here’s what you’ll need to make the Valentines:

Step 2- Print out the free printable Valentine cards.

The assembly of these little guys is pretty self explanatory. First you’ll want to print out the Valentines. There are there monster Valentine styles:

  • “Eye think you’re the best!” with a cute purple monster
  • “Eye think you’re awesome!” with a cute blue monster
  • “Eye am wild about you!” with a cute green monster

You can download all three by clicking on the button below.

The Valentines are four to a page and are compatible with the Avery Postcards, but they can also just be printed on regular card stock.

Step 3- Cut out the monster Valentines.

If you print on the postcard templates, there are already perforated lines, so you can just pull the Valentine cards apart. If you’re printing on card stock, you’ll need to cut out the designs with a paper trimmer or scissors.

And speaking of cutting things out, I am slightly type A and crazy, and it drives me nuts that my printer doesn’t print to the edge of the page, so I use my handy dandy paper trimmer to slice off the excess edges. If you are not a crazy person like me, feel free to skip this step. 😉

(The left one is trimmed, the right one isn’t. Will the kids notice either way? Definitely not.)

Step 4- Attach the googly eyes finger puppets.

For me, attaching the eye finger puppets took way longer than it should have. My first idea was to sew them on with baker’s twine. That was a fail because #1- it took forever, and #2- the eyes didn’t sit straight.

Then I tried cutting a slit with my X-acto knife and sliding the eyes in there. It was okay, but it made the Valentine sit kind of wonky. Fail.

Monster Valentines Fail

It wasn’t until my third attempt that it hit me: glue dots! The glue dots were super simple and quick to use. I just stuck one to the back of each eye, pressed it onto the card, and I was done!!

Step 5- Enjoy your cute monster Valentines!

Even though I never thought I was the monster Valentine type, Connor is absolutely over the moon about them, and that’s all that matters to me!

He is so excited to hand them out to his friends at preschool. I haven’t broken it to him yet that he still has to wait a few more weeks! Oh well. It will be here before we know it, right?! 😉
