Our Fall Home Tour 2014

A Fall Home Tour | JustAGirlAndHerBlog.com

Happy Fall, y’all! I am so delighted to be sharing my fall home tour today!

I’ve had a bit of a “thing” for neutrals this season, as evidenced by my very neutral fall wreath. Confession: Hardly anyone ever sees my front door, so the wreath is mostly just for me…and the UPS guy, I guess! 🙂

We always come in the garage, and our front door doesn’t face the street, so you really have to venture back to our place if you want to see it! It’s a nice touch when we have visitors over, though, so it’s fun to change out the door decor with each season.

When you come in the door, you’ll see the most recently finished space in our home– our entry and command center! Though it’s not looking particularly fall-ish, it is bright and welcoming. Plus, it keeps me organized! I don’t know what I’d do without it!

Our main living area is what you’d come to next, and it includes our living room, dining room, and the Cs’ toy area. Our living room is still a work in progress, but we’re getting there!

It is so fun for me to break out all of my little tchotchkes and play around with them until they’re styled just right on the coffee table, but my boys just don’t get it.

Con doesn’t understand why I have a bunch of pumpkins sitting on a tray. He keeps asking me if we can use them to decorate for Halloween. “Well they are being used for decoration, buddy,” I tried to explain. But he seems to think it only “counts” if they’re all lined up on a shelf somewhere…

He also picked up my little orb the other day and asked, “What’s this for?” When I told him it was for sitting on the coffee table and looking pretty, he was all sorts of confused. And this is why I have to blog… to commiserate with people who “get it!” 😉 #boymomproblems

If you follow my blog on a regular basis, you’ve already seen my neutral fall shelf decor. I love to change these shelves around for each season! It is a challenge to try to come up with something unique and different each time!

This is just a plain mirror with a vinyl decal I cut using my Silhouette. I made it in about two minutes, and I love how it really fall-ifies the piece! So easy!

On to the dining area! I am an aqua girl, so I couldn’t leave out my favorite color, even if it is fall! My nice little pile of apples didn’t last very long. Every time I walk past the dining room, another one seems to be missing– Baby C is a bit obsessed with apples and likes to carry one with him all day long! At least they were pretty while they lasted!

The hutch in the background belonged to my grandmother, so it is really special to have it as part of our home. I know painting furniture is the thing now, and I love a good furniture makeover, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to bring myself to touch this piece!

I don’t really decorate for fall upstairs at all, but here is a little sneak peek of what you’d see up there:

I don’t have kids. but my husband questions my decor decisions sometimes. Right now he’s wondering why we have a small bud vase full of decorative wheat branches sitting on our media center. Apparently it’s “blocking the TV”. (by I swear a half inch!)

Love your home tour! It looks beautiful! Your entry turned out great and your sons room is adorable!!!

  3. I love how neutral all your decor is. I usually go for the typical fall colors but the neutral is so classic. I am going to have to get more neutrals into my fall decor for sure!

  4. Jennifer @ Town and Country Living says:

I love how you added fun colors to your Fall home tour!!

  5. Sydney @ Tastefully Frugal says:

Your home is gorgeous! I’m a big aqua fan too! I’m surprised you got a good picture with that many apples in it… Being a boy mom too I know they can be gone in a heartbeat! Thanks for letting us take a peak into your home!

  6. Oh Abby! It’s all SO pretty! I totally hear what you’re saying about living in house full of boys! Thank goodness for bloggy friends that “get it”! LOVE that wall shelf and the lace banner below!!! Have a fab weekend my friend!

Beautiful Abby! Your home is so inviting 🙂

  8. Jen @ Migonis Home says:

    Looks great, Abby! 🙂
I totally know what you mean about missing apples… and yeah… boys definitely don’t understand decorating like we do. And Elle is at the stage where she’s taking the hydrangea out of my coffee table decor so she can play in the vase with water. Brother.

Oh Abby, that is so funny about your son and how he is all about the function of things. I don’t have boys, but my hubby is the same way. If it is not practical and functional, it just isn’t worth having. LOL. My girls on the other hand will help me with decorating and create their own style! It drives the hubby crazy. So interesting how differently we are wired! Happy Fall!

  10. Amanda @ Dwelling in Happiness says:

So pretty! I love the touches of aqua in your dining room and the neutral fall decor in the rest of your house! I’m so impressed your little guys even leave the pumpkins and coffee table decor alone!! I can’t leave ANYTHING out at my 11 month old’s level, or it’s in the mouth or gone. No coffee table decor for me! 🙂 Have a great weekend!

  11. Kendra @ www.joyinourhome.com says:

Your home is lovely, Abby! So many pretty touches! Happy Fall!!

  12. I love this! What a beautiful home you’ve created Abby! I love your the piece from your grandmother and your sentiment about not wanting to paint it! I wouldn’t either, it’s beautiful the way it is!

  13. Emily, Our house now a home says:

I am loving all of the neutral and subtle fall looks. It is hard to make turquoise work for holidays. My home has a lot of it too, and making the colors mesh can be a bit tricky. This weekend I am doing my home for fall and am thinking of going with the more subtle approach. I am also loving the additions of natural woods, sticks, and other things of that “nature”. All of these fall tours are making me antsy to get my home ready. You always do such a great job of decorating for function, style, and family!

  14. Becki @littlemrssevenonesix says:

i love your home…so welcoming and inviting. I love your front door wreath!!!

  15. I love your house too! Oh my goodness, your so organized. I also love the picture that is above the mantle, did you make it?

  16. Selene Galindo says:

I love your home, Abby! And you did a fabulous job with your Fall decorations. I’m loving the neutrals right now, too…one could never go wrong with neutrals, right? So cassic.
Your boys sound like a lot of fun! I have an all girly girl and she totally gets my “DIY, crafting, decorating” obsession so I’m always amused with little boys and how they just don’t get it. Too cute!
    Have a great weekend friend!

  17. Michelle Carter says:

Love your Fall Home tour…so pretty! Also, I will love it when I can decorate my coffee table and my boys not chunk whatever is on it across the room. LOL Where did you get the orb…love it!

  18. Ashley @ 3 Little Greenwoods says:

Love the mirror and those green apples on the table are so fresh! Gotta love those sweet boys too! 😉

Your photos are gorgeous! I just love the crate of apples on the striped runner – the perfect vignette. I also have an apple-obsessed boy, so it wouldn’t have lasted long in my house, either. 😉 Your story about your son just not “getting” the purpose of your decorations made me giggle! Ahh, boys! 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home, Abby! So lovely, as always!

  20. Some pieces of furniture should be left alone. Loved all the pictures of your home. The boys room is too cute and I want to figure out where I can create a command center like yours.

  21. Sarah @ Life On Virginia Street says:

Love your tour Abby! I think your dining tablescape is perfection!!

  22. I love the fall decor, especially the cute little pumpkins every where! I totally relate to what you were saying with your boys not understanding the purpose of decor items around the house. I have that same problem, only with my husband 🙂

  23. Krista @the happy housie says:

Fabulous tour Abby – it was fun to see your spaces all at once like this! I love the fall vignettes on your coffee table and dining table…even if the apples didn’t last there very long:)

  24. Kim@NewlyWoodwards says:

This is beautiful. I think the apples on the table may be my favorite thing. (I know that is so silly, because there are so many great details.) But I just love the pop of green. I’m totally going to do that!

    1. justagirlabby says:

I love them because they’re cheap and we can eat them afterwards, lol! I’m so practical that it pains me to spend too much money on decor items. 😉 Enjoy your day, friend!

      ~Abby =)
