Our Christmas Wedding, Part 3: Celebrating!
Welcome to the 3rd and final part of the Our Christmas Wedding series! If you’re just joining us, be sure to check out Part 1 to find out about The 20% Club, a first date where everything went wrong, and a picturesque proposal; see Part 2 to read about our wedding day mishaps!
When we left off, we had just gotten into the limo to head to the reception, and I was feeling nauseous– really, really nauseous. I thought it was because it was hot in the limo or because my dress was heavy and was weighing down on me, but what I didn’t know at that point was that my dad had been sick all day with the flu and that the same thing was going to start affecting me in just a few hours. I don’t know if it was adrenaline or what, but somehow after we left the limo, I held off the sickness until later that night and was able to enjoy our reception.
Probably the most photographed thing at our entire wedding was the food. I think everyone took a picture of their plates because they were so pretty! {And yummy too!}
The cake was pretty amazing as well…
The room was filled with red candles wrapped in ribbon and surrounded by greenery.
We did all of the typical reception things… Our first dance was to Rascal Flatts’ “The Day Before You.”
I danced with my dad, D danced with his mom…
{Double DJ photo bomb!}
He threw the garter, I tossed the bouquet… {Sidenote: One of my bridesmaids caught the bouquet and got engaged the next day. Am I good or what? 😉 }
And we seriously had the best wedding party ever.
Eventually the night came to an end, and we headed off to our hotel. I spent the rest of the night and the following day (Christmas Eve) so, so sick. {I put that “in sickness and in health” clause to the test right away!} Thankfully, I was feeling better by Christmas day, the day we flew out to our honeymoon in Punta Cana. We had a wonderful week soaking up every bit of sun before heading back to real life in the snow and cold.
Seven years later, it feels like our wedding was so long ago and just yesterday all at the same time. I am so blessed to be married to the love of my life and best friend, and I can’t wait to see what the next seven years brings!
I link up at these fun parties!
Merry Christmas Abby
Lovely to read about your wedding, shame about the flu, am wondering too how you went with your surgery that you mentioned some time ago, that we’re planning on having done this year. I’ve been thinking of you
Love dee
Thank you so much for thinking of me, Denise! I’m planning on having the surgery in July when my son is out of school for the summer, so I still have a few months. I’m sure I’ll be posting updates when the time comes! Hope you have a wonderful New Year!

I saw this story in your sidebar and couldn’t resist. I just love a great love story – and especially a wedding. What a mess though with your photographer and you ending up sick later that night. Glad you made it through all the festivities before getting sick, though (praise God!)! You don’t mention it, so I assume Donnie never got the flu bug? And now for the part where they lived happily ever after!
He never did, thank goodness! That would have made for a pretty miserable honeymoon! lol. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, Carrie!

We share the same anniversary. I invite you to read my blog post from today: http://www.suzeqcreations.blogspot.com and read all about OUR STORY.
So sweet! Happy anniversary to the two of you! Enjoy!
