I’m just partying with everyone in blogland this week, friends! Today I’m teaming up with my fellow Behr DIY Experts to bring you the Holiday Home Challenge!

Behr has “challenged” all of us to come up with an outdoor project for the holidays, and I can’t wait to share what we’ve come up with!

Now, outdoor decor is especially challenging for me– you’ll notice you don’t see a whole lot of it around here. We live in a townhouse, so our outdoor options are limited, but I am always up for some cute door decor, so that’s what I tackled for today’s post! My inspiration for my door decor came when I found this unique wreath form on clearance at Target:

I didn’t have any idea what I was going to do with it, but the price was right, so I put it in my cart and determined that I would figure out a plan for it later. It was kind of a toughie. Nothing was coming to me at first, but eventually I realized that there is one universal solution that works for all decorating dilemmas, at least at my house…

Put a monogram on it. 🙂

I love, love, love monograms, and I just so happened to have a wooden one that Donnie had purchased for me on Etsy a while back that was currently not in use anywhere! Before I could just stick it on my wreath form, though, I had to make it a little more Christmas-y. So I painted it. In Behr Marquee’s Rumors MQ1-15 to be exact.

It was looking more festive already, but it still needed a little somethin’. If you are a regular reader of this blog you are absolutely not going to believe what I did next. I decided to sew. Like on purpose. Which is shocking because I never sew. But this wreath form already had the holes drilled for me, so it would be hard to mess this up, right?!

I had grabbed some silver and gold metallic embroidery thread at the craft store and thought it would be the perfect way to add a little holiday sparkle to my door decor. I did a simple backstitch {look at me using sewing words! 😉 } through the holes, alternating rows with the gold and the silver thread.

Once that was done, I used a combination of command strips and more thread to attach my monogram, slipped a ribbon through the hanger on the back, and I was done!

Oh how I love monograms! And it pops so nicely off of the pretty red paint!

Abby, I just bought a very similar cross stitch grid thing at Target. I like that Target is getting crafty!

On another note, I’m wondering what related posts plug in you use? There seem to be so many options, but they all seem janky in one way or another 🙂

    Thanks!
