Friends, I cannot tell you how excited I am for this post! With all of the craziness of moving, I intentionally skipped fall decorating and blog posts so I could focus on getting our family organized and settled. Do you know what that means?

I haven’t done any seasonal decorating in a really long time. And I have missed it!!!

Our Classic Christmas Tree

Sure, it was a bit earlier than usual, but I was so excited to bring our tree up from the basement! Last year was the first year we had ever done an artificial tree, and I have to say, I am completely hooked. We have Balsam Hill’s Pinehurst Spruce Instant Evergreen tree, and I love that it looks so authentic while being super simple to set up and maintain.

Also, I won’t be finding stray pine needles in every nook in cranny for the next year, so that’s a plus. 😉

I threw around a bunch of different theme and color scheme ideas for our first Christmas in our new house, and I ultimately settled on classic red, white, and silver with some black and white buffalo check accents thrown into the mix.

Normally I’m not really a red girl, but at Christmas, I can’t seem to get enough of it!

Balsam Hill’s Nordic Frost Ornament Set exactly matched the vision I had for our Christmas decor this year, so those ornaments became the centerpieces for the rest of the tree.

Can you spy my cute Winter Pinecone Picks nestled in there too? I don’t know that I’ve used picks on my Christmas tree before, but I love how they add an extra layer of dimension and interest and really complete the look.

Also, my poor boys. It’s the beginning of November, and there are already wrapped gifts sitting in the living room that they aren’t allowed to open for several weeks yet! Oops. #meanmommy 😉

They keep walking up and picking them up and shaking them, trying to guess what may be inside.

They haven’t been right about anything yet, but don’t tell them I told you. 🙂

The pickup truck was definitely a hit with them, though! It certainly doesn’t stay in its little spot for long when they are around.

Now, I love the tree during the day, but nothing beats sitting in the living room at night with all of the lights off except for the tree, with its warm glow lighting up the rest of the room just enough.

For a few years now, I have been keeping an eye out for a runner sled that I could add to my Christmas decor, and this year I finally got one!

We don’t have much on our walls yet since we are still deciding where things should go, so it was the perfect thing to help fill our space. (And the jingle bell ribbon makes it even more fun!)

We had originally decided that this year we would go with a real tree (our artificial finally bit the dust last year after 12 years) but looking at your beautiful tree and seeing the reminder that you won’t be cleaning up needles…I think we will do some research into another artificial. Beautiful and cozy corner you have created! Thank you for sharing!

    1. justagirlabby says:

There is definitely something SO fun about going to pick out a real tree, but I love the simplicity of the artificial one, too! 🙂 Happy tree hunting, Emily! <3

Due to allergies had to go to an artificial tree. Found ours at the local Costco and couldn’t be happier. it also is in 3 parts It had the most fluffiness and “ends”. Good luck with your tree hunt.

  13. Gorgeous tree! Thanks for sharing! We have been a real tree family ever since we got married. We’ve gone to the same tree farm for 16 years and cut one down. It’s been a wonderful tradition, but it may be time to go the artificial route. Do you love this tree? How difficult is the set up? Fluffing? Is it really as realistic as they say? Thanks for any input you can offer. Happy Holidays.

    1. justagirlabby says:

We do really love our tree! Donnie was actually away when I set it up this year and I was easily able to do it myself. I just slid the 3 pieces together and did a little bit of fluffing. If you look at my tree post from last year (https://justagirlandherblog.com/balsam-hills-12-bloggers-of-christmas-a-giveaway/) you can see the branches from the artificial tree right next to real tree clippings that I had on the gifts– it is hard to tell which is real and which is artificial! I hope this helps! Have a great day, Laurie!

      ~Abby =)
